Solta
Šolta is an island in Croatia. It is situated in the Adriatic Sea in the central Dalmatian archipelago, west of the island of Brač, south of Split (separated by Split Channel) and east of the Drvenik islands, Drvenik Mali and Drvenik Veli (separated by the Šolta Channel). Its area is 58.98 km2 and it has a population of 1,700.
Solta has always been an island of fishermen and farmers, vineyards and olive trees, and today is a chest which preserves the memory of the Mediterranean as it once was. Walk the old stone streets and let it take you back in time.
What to see? – Maslinica
This small village with the most breathtaking sunset is located on the west side of Šolta. Archipelago of seven small islands (Polebrnjak, Saskinja, Stipanska, Kamik, Balkun, Šarac and Grmej) is just one of many things that make Maslinica one of the most beautiful places on the Adriatic coast. Restoration of the castle into a hotel and the construction of a nautical marina are turning this village little by little into the tourist centre of the island that greets more and more guests each year. Apart from Maslinica, the boaters find the neighbouring bay, Šešula, with its safe anchorage and unique gastronomical experience very attractive.
What to see? – Stomorska
This town is ideal for tourists who are looking for old-times tourism, a town that has everything a modern tourist needs but that hasn’t lost its small fishing town charm. Its waterfront is colourful, its beaches are beautiful and its fishermen sell their freshly caught fish early in the mornings on the waterfront, next to a berthed modern yacht. It is located on the north-east of the island, only 12 km away from the main port, Rogač.
What to see? – Rogač
Rogač is a port village in Croatia on the northern coast of Šolta island in the Split-Dalmatia County. It is connected by the D112 highway and by ferry. In the small port with the Port Authority of the island, there is a filling station for cars and boats. Also land in Rogač car ferries. The place belongs to Grohote and has 110 inhabitants.
